Young People’s Projects

In Your Corner has several projects in London and these are all free for young people to access. You can learn more about each project, and how to refer a young person, below.

FIGHT CONNECT

Camden

Our FIGHT CONNECT project is back! This is a partnership with Hawley ABC at Camden Boxing Club.

Our next group, starts Tuesday May 14th 2024. Referrals are open NOW!

FIGHT CONNECT is an exciting project for local young people aged 12-15, who would like to improve their emotional wellbeing. The group meets for 10-12 weeks and develop their boxing and emotion regulation skills.

Over the summer holidays 2024, participants can also meet with us to co-design a graduates programme for boxers who have completed FIGHT CONNECT– with opportunities to develop further boxing skills, gain educational units in boxing, and become young ambassadors for In Your Corner.

Young people can be referred into Fight Connect by a professional they are already working with in Camden (e.g. Social Worker, CAMHS Worker, Youth Justice) or you can use the Contact Form to enquire and a Clinician will call you back.

See what young people, carers/parents and professionals think about FIGHT CONNECT in our Impact Report.

Southwark

Our CONNECT project is in partnership with London Community Boxing based in their gym in Peckham Rye.

This is our largest project and we’re proud that this has been running since 2017, with a proven track record of positive impact. This is a community project for young people aged 12-15. We focus on young people who live in Southwark and who have a worker from a targeted service in Southwark, such as: CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), The Nest, Children’s Services (e.g. Family Early Help, Social Work) Youth Offending, or mentoring.

We run 12-week starter groups, on a Tuesday and a successful Graduates Group, for graduates of our starter groups, on a Thursday, in term time.

In Graduates Group, young people have opportunities to gain educational units in boxing, and leadership opportunities such as becoming a project ambassador or a young coach. Boxers from CONNECT can also join the amateur boxing club at London Community Boxing and work towards competing.

I-Box is a partnership with Islington Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for young people aged 12-15 who want support for their emotional health and wellbeing.

This group is available to young people who have been referred to Islington CAMHS, and takes place at the Sobell Leisure Centre boxing gym in N7.

Schools Partnerships

In Your Corner also works in partnership with several schools, offering bespoke projects to support mental health and emotional wellbeing in schools.

Our work with secondary schools focuses on Key Stage 3 and 4, and in primary schools focuses on Years 5 and 6. We also offer groups for school staff supporting staff wellbeing and incorporating group reflective practice.

We currently have a partnership with youth mental health charity Beyond who are subsidising the cost of In Your Corner projects to schools, so that more students can access this unique support.

If you are interested in finding out more about our schools offer, or our Beyond partnership check out our schools leaflet or contact us.
